If your VIN is not being recognized - Please check the following:

ü  Is the VIN you entered exactly the same as the vehicle you are planning to update?

o    Note: VINs do not contain the letters “O” or “I” or “Q”

ü  Is Wi-Fi turned on in your vehicle?

ü  Are Connected Services Enabled? (click here for more info)

Recommended Action:

·    If Connected Services are enabled, the most likely issue is that we have not yet received your VIN from Acura. In these cases, we can manually add your VIN to our system, which typically takes up to 5 business days.

o   Please submit your VIN using our online contact form. In the comments section, include:

§  Your VIN

§  A note that the Acura MapCare page does not recognize your VIN

§  A note that Connected Services have already been enabled

o   Once your VIN is added, you may need to disable and then re-enable Connected Services in your vehicle

•       Map updates are done via a download to your own USB flash drive.  Some models may have WiFi update capability.  Check our FAQ page for WiFi update details. All update methods require an active subscription

•       USB updates require a computer connected to the internet. Chromebooks, notebook computers, tablets and mobile phones can’t be used

•       Most eligible Acura models came with a 3-year complimentary subscription period

•       The complimentary map update subscription period started once the vehicle was purchased new

•       Pre-owned vehicles are only eligible for complimentary updates if the original subscription is still active. Depending on age and original (new) purchase date of vehicle, the complimentary subscription period may be expired

•       MapCare subscriptions are tied to the vehicle VIN.   Any MapCare renewals (whether free or renewed) – follow the VIN and not the owner.  The subscription can’t be transferred to another vehicle

•       Renewal purchases are non-refundable.  We do not offer refunds if you sell your vehicle

•       Renewal purchases are a one-time purchase, and do not auto-renew

Other USB Flash Drive Tips:

·         Size:  32GB is minimum size needed

o   USB flash drives larger than 32GB may need additional steps to format to FAT32

·         Type: USB 3.0 or higher highly recommended

o   The higher the speed, the faster the download will be

o   USB 2.0 will work but data transfer will be much slower and may cause time-out errors

§  The USB port type on your computer also impacts data speed

·         Format:  USB must be formatted to FAT32.  Many USBs are already formatted, but should still be confirmed

·         Brand:  Good quality (name brand) USB flash drive recommended

o   Specific brand not required however ‘Micro Center’ brand has typically worked well

·         Blank USB:  Your USB flash drive should be blank when starting a new map update download

The only USB port you should use in the vehicle to load a map update is the ‘Data USB port’ – typically located in center console. (location may vary). DO NOT use the battery-charging port which has a lightning bolt symbol
If installing while the vehicle is in Accessory mode (versus full engine running) –  opening the vehicle doors during the installation will cause the system to shut off.
